“The Suicide Squad” stars John Cena and Idris Elba are finalising deals to re-team for the action feature “Heads of State” at Amazon Studios.
The project was sold after a Zoom pitch presentation with the actors, screenwriter Harrison Query (“My Wife & I Bought A Ranch”), and producers Peter Safran and John Rickard.
Specifics are under wraps, but the film is said to be a throwback to 1990s two-hander action films – bringing together an odd couple in a high stakes situation and described as “Air Force One meets Hobbs and Shaw”.
The Safran Company, which will be releasing the aforementioned “The Suicide Squad” and new installments in the “Conjuring,” “Aquaman” and “Shazam” franchises, will produce. Shooting is scheduled for January.
