Dwayne Johnson has thrown in his endorsement for U.S. President to Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his vice presidential partner Kamala Harris.
This marks the first time Johnson, himself once touted as a potential future U.S. Presidential candidate on social media, has ever publicly endorsed a political candidate. Johnson has in the past been a proud centrist who has voted for both parties.
In fact Johnson not only offered the endorsement, he did a whole online video interview with the pair. He cited compassion and soul as attributes for Biden, and called Harris a “certified badass” for her record as a prosecutor before she was voted to the U.S. Senate.
The move has already sparked reaction, including one tweet that has been copied and pasted, and/or bot generated, so many times its origin is hard to clarify (see example). That tweet read: “Unfortunately everyone I know is about to turn our backs to the Rock. We used to be huge fans. My children have already started burning his movie’s. Such a sad day to hear rock say this. My teen’s took this really hard. Figured he was smarter than this.”
