Crude oil carrier still on fire off Sri Lanka

(UTV | Ampara) – Aircraft, boats and ships from Sri Lanka and India were escalating efforts to douse a fire raging on the ‘MT New Diamond’ oil tanker with over 2,00,000 metric ton cargo, East of Sri Lanka for a 2nd day Friday (04).

The Sri Lanka Navy confirmed 1 crew member from the Philippines had died in a boiler explosion. The fire that started Thursday (03) in an engine room boiler injured another crew member.
