TPA demands one SJB National List seat

UTV | COLOMBO – An affiliate party of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, the Tamil Progressive Alliance, says they will remain independent within Parliament if the Samagi Jana Balawegaya does not grant a National List seat.

Speaking to media in Kandy yesterday Velu Kumar who was elected to Parliament at the recently concluded General Election said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya must remain a strong Opposition in Parliament.

He said according to the present state of affairs the Samagi Jana Balawegaya must press on, as a powerful Opposition, and ensure it’s duties are carried out effectively, to ensure the country is steered on the right path.

The Parliament Elect said therefore, a fair National List must be presented, adding however that if it is unfair then a decision will have to be reached.
