UTV | COLOMBO -United National Party (UNP) members Ravi Karuanayake, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Daya Gamage, and Vajira Abeywardene have expressed their interest in receiving the leadership of the party.
UNP sources told UTV News that Leader of the UNP Ranil Wickremesinghe might take a decision on his leadership position very soon.
In the event Wickramasinghe steps down, these four UNP members had expressed their interest in becoming the next leader during a meeting held at the UNP Headquarters Sirikotha today.
The UNP source said that if Ranil Wickremesinghe steps down, the next leader will be picked out from among Ravi, Akila, Daya, and Vajira unless any others express their interest.
A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday (12) to take a decision in this regard, they added, reportedly.
