COVID-19 recoveries up to 2,094, 17 more discharged

UTV | COLOMBO – The number of COVID-19 recoveries recorded in the country has increased to 2,094 after 17 more individuals recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the past 24 hours.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said eight persons were discharged from the Panagoda Army Hospital, four each from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and Iranawila Hospital, and one individual from the Colombo East Base Hospital.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 2,753, after a returnee from Saudi Arabia, who was housed at a quarantine centre, tested positive for the virus yesterday.

648 persons are undergoing medical treatment for COVID-19 while another 63 suspected cases remain under medical observation.

Among the COVID-19 infections in the country are 896 Lankan returnees, 563 from the Kandakadu cluster and 950 Navy personnel and their close contacts, all of whom have since recovered.
