Operation of buses to reduce by 50% from today

UTV | COLOMBO -The Lanka Private Bus Owners Association will reduce the operation of buses by 50% across the island from today.

Chairman of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said the decision was reached as a number of commuters have refrained from taking public transport owing to the coronavirus.

He said bus operations will return to normalcy when schools reopen for academic activities.

Wijeratne also claimed that the failure by the government to respond to their proposals to curtail the impact of the coronavirus on the bus industry also resulted in the decision.
