UTV | COLOMBO – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has called on the farming community to increase the supply of finished agricultural products for export, so they can earn higher profits.
The President’s Media Division said the re-export of pepper has been halted.
Therefore, the President advised farmers to export pepper in the form of seeds, powder or any other finished product.
President Rajapaksa further pointed out that more foreign exchange earnings could be made by adopting the value added methodology.
The President made these remarks joining public gatherings in Hasalaka today.
The President instructed farmers not to fall prey to middlemen, and to take steps to sell paddy harvests at government controlled prices.
President Rajapaksa also told villagers that the government has already taken necessary measures to provide solutions for the issue of human-elephant conflict.
