‘SLPP-SLFP alliance terms no longer relevant’

UTV | COLOMBO – Minister Prasanna Ranatunga says the conditions that were agreed to at the Presidential Election pertaining to the formation of an alliance are no longer applicable.

Speaking at a public gathering in Attanagalla Minister Ranatunga said an agreement was signed with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party during the Presidential Election solely to obtain 51% of the vote, adding that as the Presidential Election is over the terms and conditions are no longer relevant.

He stressed that the upcoming General Election is not being contested under the same alliance, adding that some are attempting to portray Maithripala Sirisena as the leader of the alliance.

He remarked that not a single person would contest the election while displaying the image of the former President.
