Prasadi acting coach of national netball team

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Netball Federation has appointed P.D.N.Prasadi as Acting coach of the National Netball team for the present pool practices . Prasadi who has represented the National team for ten years from 1993 to 2003 has vast experience as a coach .

The former Warrant officer of the Sri Lanka Army who rendered yeoman service as the head coach of the Army Netball team served as the Assistant coach to former Head coach Thilaka Jinadasa who resigned two months ago .She was Assistant coach to the former coach Deepthi Alwis in 2016 .

Prasadi a product of Dammissara National College Nattandiya already has good knowledge about the National pool having work ed with the players during the practices before the lockdown period . Thilak Jinadasa the former coach suddenly quit from the head coach post.

Sri Lanka who won the last Asian Championship in 2018 in Singapore have already won the Asian crown five times and are once again expected to retain the crown.

However Asian Championship which was scheduled to be held in October was postponed due to Covid 19 epidemic and is unlikely to be held this year and that was the main reason Jinadasa resigned from her post .

Meanwhile Netball has already been included for the next Asian Indoor Games in 2023. . Sri Lanka is presently in 18 th in World ranking is expected to compete in more International tournaments before the next World Cup .

A senior official of the Netball Federation said they have already called new applications for the National Netball head coach post.

We wanted to continue our pool practices with Prasadi as the Acting coach . She has good knowledge about the present pool having been the former Assistant coach .

Prasadi who is the Secretary of the Netball coaches Association also held the post of Secretary of the Puttalam district Netball Association . She has good experience That’s why we appointed Prasadi to continue the practices until the new head coach is appointed said a senior official of the Netball Federation. (DN)
