More Lankans stranded abroad return

(UTV | COVID-19) – More Lankan nationals stranded abroad because of the COVID-19 pandemic returned yesterday (21) afternoon.

About 200 Lankan nationals from the Maldives and African continent arrived on special SriLankan Airlines charter flight.

The flight had arrived from the Male airport at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday afternoon. Those arrived from the African continent were employed in the hotel industry in Madagascar, Mozambique, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. According to sources, the charter flight was from a Tanzanian airport.

The returnees had been disinfected, subjected to PCR testing, and directed to hotels nearby the BIA for temporary residence until the PCR results are released.
