Coronavirus cases increase to 1,800

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The number of coronavirus cases reported in the country rose to 1,800 today.

The Government Information Department said three individuals tested positive for COVID-19 today.

Among the three are two returnees from Bangladesh who were undergoing quarantine at the Rantambe quarantine facility.

The other has been identified as a Navy personnel who was also undergoing quarantine measures.

Among the COVID-19 cases are 845 Navy personnel and 602 Lankan foreign returnees.

Meanwhile 19 persons who contracted the coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the number of recoveries in Sri Lanka accordingly increases to 858.

10 persons were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Disease, eight from the Homagama Base Hospital and one from the Minuwangoda Base Hospital.

931 active COVID-19 cases are being treated at 11 hospitals.

48 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.
