FR hearings on election postponed to Monday

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Further consideration of the Fundamental Rights petitions filed challenging the gazette issued by the Election Commission to conduct the General Election on the 20th of June, was postponed to 10am on Monday.

The consideration of the petitions commenced for the ninth day today.

The petitions are being heard before a 5-member bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare, Sisira de Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardene and Vijith Malalgoda.

12 Fundamental Rights petitions were filed challenging the decision of the Election Commission to conduct the Parliamentary Election on the 20th of June.

The Attorney General, Members of the Election Commission, the Secretary to the President and the Director General of Health Services have been named as respondents.
