“Spider-Man 3” could supplant “Uncharted”

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Current Spider-Man star Tom Holland appeared in an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week and revealed that he’s still unclear when either the planned film adaptation of the video game series “Uncharted” or a third “Spider-Man” film will begin shooting.

In fact it’s not clear in what order they will shoot now it seems. Holland tells Kimmel: “I’m not too sure. I was in Berlin, making a film called ‘Uncharted’ with Mark Wahlberg. We were all ready to go, we went to set for day one of shooting, and then we got shut down and we got sent home. So whether we shoot that movie first or we shoot ‘Spider-Man’ first, I’m not clear. But both movies are being made and they’re both really strong and the scripts are fantastic, so whatever happens, happens.”

“Uncharted” was to shoot from March through to June/July with Holland segueing straight into the next “Spider-Man” filming in July for a Summer 2021 release. Now things remain murky as film studios struggle to work out the logistics and economics of how to shoot films during the global pandemic.

The “Uncharted” film has been hit by numerous setbacks over the years as Sony Pictures has struggled to adapt the most famous of PlayStation exclusive properties to a film format. Numerous directors and actors have come and gone from the project in that time.
