COVID-19 cases increase to 190

The number of coronavirus cases has increased to 190, after one individual tested positive today.

The number of persons who recovered after treatment and have been discharged has increased to 47.

3 more persons recovered during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile of the 189 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country, 136 active cases continue to receive treatment.

92 persons are being treated at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, 27 at the Colombo East Base Hospital and 16 at the Welikanda Base Hospital. A foreign national is among the group.

44 persons infected with the virus are from the Colombo District, 34 from the Puttalam District and 16 from the Gampaha District.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said as of 10 this morning, 242 persons suspected to have contracted the coronavirus were under observations at several hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile another 37 persons who completed their quarantine process were released today.
