COVID-19 positive cases increases to 185

The number of coronavirus cases reported in the country has increased to 185 after 2 more persons tested positive this evening.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health stated that 7 new cases were confirmed today. 3 of the 7 reported today were from the Punani quarantine centre.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus recoveries rose to 42 today.

137 active coronavirus cases are accordingly being treated at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, the Colombo East Base Hospital and the Welikanda Base Hospital at present.

Meanwhile 255 persons who are suspected to have contracted the coronavirus, including a foreign national, are being treated at several hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit added 44 persons of the 180 COVID-19 cases are from the Colombo District, 31 from the Puttalam District, 26 from the Kalutara District, 13 from the Gampaha District and 7 each from the Jaffna and Kandy Districts.

The Epidemiology Unit added that 37 persons from quarantine centres also tested positive for the coronavirus.
