The Bureau stated that Lankans overseas are faced with several concerns including unemployment while groups seeking to return to Sri Lanka have been stranded.
The Bureau stated that the wellbeing of Lankans, including their safety and job security is being looked into by labour officials including respective Sri Lanka Embassies and overseas missions.
The General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau said the group of Lankans cannot be brought to the country owing to the restriction by the government on inbound flights.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Relations recently held talks with Embassy officials pertaining to the safety of Lankans overseas, where it was revealed that around 45,000 Lankans are facing various hardships owing to the coronavirus in the Middle East and other countries.
