45 more persons released from quarantine

45 people who successfully completed their mandatory 14 day isolation period at the Pampaimadu, Vavuniya Army camp quarantine center have been released to return home.

The group which had been quarantined upon arrival from European countries also consisted of several small children.

Upon completion of the 14 day quarantine period, individuals were handed certificates of completion, stating they had successfully undergone and completed their isolation period.

The released group were residents of several districts including Jaffna, Colombo, Kurnegala and Wennappuwa.

This is the final group of persons who underwent quarantine at the Vavuniya district quarantine center.

Accordingly 167 and 45 persons from the Pampaimadu, Vavuniya camp and 104 and 16 persons from the Periyakadu camp and 205 people from the Vellankulam, Vanni camp have been released thus far.

Meanwhile the Army says all four Diyathalawa quarantine centers have now been vacated.

33 persons who were housed at the Diyathalawa Army holiday camp who left to return to their homes today, marked the final group to leave the camp premises.

The Army stated all four camps had housed a total of 479 people.

The first people to arrive at the camp were 33 Sri Lankans who arrived from Wuhan, China.
