Sony Pictures has announced that they have pushed back many of their major summer tentpole films to next year.
The Tom Hanks-led “Greyhound,” originally set for June 12th 2020, is now a TBD title.
“Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway,” originally set for August 7th 2020, will now open January 15th 2021.
“Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” originally set for July 10th 2020, will now open March 5th 2021.
Marvel film “Morbius,” originally set for July 31st 2020, will now open March 19th 2021.
The Tom Holland-led “Uncharted,” originally set for March 5th 2021, will now open December 8th 2021.
A previously undated untitled Marvel film has also been set for October 8th 2021, while the Kevin Hart-led “Fatherhood” has been moved up from January 2021 to October 23rd 2020.
The schedule is the most sweeping change made by a major studio since the coronavirus pandemic and the closing of most cinemas in North America in recent weeks and suggests Sony is not expecting cinemas to be open again until mid-late Summer.
