Around 300 Lankans to be brought back from India

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A special flight is due to set off for New Delhi, India, to bring back around 300 Sri Lankans presently engaged in pilgrimage in India.

The Ministry of Buddha Sasana said the group of Lankans is presently at the Maha Bodhi Centre in New Delhi.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi and the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai together are facilitating the return travel of the pilgrims through discussions with relevant airlines.

The tour groups were earlier requested to expedite their return travel arrangements in view of the evolving situation.

The measure comes in the wake of the travel and other restrictions that have arisen due to the rapidly spreading Covid-19.
