Postpone 2020 General Election -TNA

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Tamil National Alliance has called for the postponement of the 2020 General Election, due to be held on the 25th of April, owing to the threat the coronavirus has posed on the country.

The TNA said it is concerned of the threat posed to the people by the possible spread of the COVID19 virus.

Issuing a statement, the Spokesman of the TNA MA Sumanthiran said the safety of the public is of paramount concern.

The Former Parliamentarian said the TNA calls on the government to take all steps to prevent the spread of the virus.

Sumanthiran said they will extend their fullest cooperation in this regard.

He added for this reason, and for the reason that all democratic aspects cannot be properly be adhered to in this abnormal situation, the election should be postponed.
