(UTV|COLOMBO) – Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says a total of 4,443 Chinese nationals will be under observation for a period of 14 days owing to the threat of the novel coronavirus.
Speaking during a media briefing today at the Government Information Department Dr. Anil Jasinghe said Public Health Inspectors will observe the Chinese nationals who arrived in the country during the past few days.
He added that all those who arrive in the country from Italy, South Korea and Iran will be sent to special quarantine centres.
On a separate note, Dr. Anil Jasinghe said all Sri Lankans should support the efforts taken by the government to contain the spread of the virus in the country.
He said Sri Lanka should take all precautionary measures to prevent the virus entering the country and avoid a similar situation that Italy is facing at present.
Dr. Anil Jasinghe also urged the public to halt all group tours including religious engagements until the present volatile situation is under control. He said the public should heed all instruction issued periodically by health authorities.
