Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has stressed that those who are being sent to quarantine facilities, are not persons who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Speaking to media after an inspection visit to the quarantine facility in Batticaloa, the Army Commander noted that the public need not fear the current processes.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva pointed out that although Sri Lankans arriving to visit relatives and tourists will be affected by the decision, such strict measures have been taken in view of preventing an outbreak.
By analysing past flight data, the Army Commander predicted that the incoming number of passengers will decrease by one hundred to two hundred individuals a day.
To support his claim, the Army Commander said that since flights from Italy and South Korea were stopped, the number of arrivals is expected to drop, while also adding that numbers would reduce further due to the quarantine measures taken by the country.
