(UTV|COLOMBO) – Court today granted approval for the former Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Cooperation Dr. Rumi Mohammad, the fourth suspect in the controversial white van media briefing, to travel overseas.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne granted approval for Dr. Mohammad to travel overseas between the 10th and 25th of April.
Former Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Dr. Rumi Mohammad was arrested and subsequently remanded on charges of helping stage the controversial ‘white van abduction’ media briefing.
He was later released on bail.
The first and second suspects in the case, the persons who participated in the controversial media briefing, were produced before Court today.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered prison officials to ensure that the suspects faces are concealed when being escorted to Court as they are due to be produced at an identification parade over the theft of Rs.4.6 million in Gampaha.
