(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Deputy Inspector General of Police of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon says the law will be strictly enforced against students behaving in an unruly manner during vehicle parades organised to mark the inter school cricket tournaments or big matches.
The DIG made this announcement during a discussion with principals, representatives of old boy’s associations and Head Prefects of schools at the Ministry of Education today.
DIG Tennakoon said forcibly entering girls’ schools, harassing female students, using foul language during vehicle parades, reckless driving during parades, consuming alcohol, smoking, harassing females and disabled persons on roads will not be permitted.
The students have also been requested to refrain from seeking hat collections from the public during vehicle parades.
The DIG added that public movement including the violation of rights cannot be entertained during the big match season.
Therefore, he requested principals to ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected during preparations for the inter school cricket encounters.
