“No place for terrorism or extremism” – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says that he will not allow the scourge of terrorism or religious extremism to raise its head in Sri Lanka once again.

Speaking during an event in Peradeniya to launch the national programme to develop the country’s road network and make reality the promises made in his election manifesto, President Rajapaksa noted that he has appointed the most capable individuals to hold posts in the intelligence services including the Secretary of Defence.

The Head of State stressed that they have identified a ring of drug racketeers and added that steps have been take to put an end to the drug menace and save the youth.

President Rajapaksa reiterated that since the independence of the judiciary has been ensured, the people can expect their independence and freedom to be protected.
