Rs.376bn supplementary estimate to be tabled

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A supplementary estimate of Rs.376 billion will be tabled in Parliament today, by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The government said the supplementary estimate is being tabled in order to settle arrears of projects launched by the former government.

Meanwhile the Nations Building Tax (Amendment) Bill, Economic Service Charge (Amendment) Bill and Ports and Airport Development Levy (Amendment) Bill will be presented in Parliament today for the last reading.

The Committee on Public Finance consented to presenting the three bills in Parliament, when it convened yesterday in Parliament under the Chairmanship of MP MA Sumanthiran.
