Investigation called into corruption at SL Railways

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Transport Service Management Mahinda Amaraweera has informed the Secretary to the Ministry Gamini Seneviratne, to conduct a stringent investigation into claims that senior officers of the Department of Railways are misusing state funds.

Trade unions allege that several senior officials at the Department engage in personal travels by using fuel supplied by the government for official purposes.

Trade unions also allege that the group misuses vehicles of the Railways Department.

The Minister has accordingly called for a stringent investigation to be carried out in to the allegations.
