(UTV|COLOMBO) – State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura has requested the Acting Inspector General of Police to gather all information prior to making arrests and avoid inconveniencing the government.
Speaking during a media briefing in Embilipitiya State Minister Wakkumbura said it is the responsibility of the Police to investigate crimes, regardless of the perpetrator.
The State Minister stated no person can prevent the Police from searching a residence with a warrant.
State Minister Wakkumbura added however when a Parliamentarian is arrested, several persons claim the government interfered in the arrest.
The State Minister therefore requested the IGP to gather all information prior to making arrests in order to avoid inconveniencing the government.
