(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Former General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa says necessary measures to face the upcoming General Election, with a broad alliance comprising 17 political parties, under the symbol of the chair are currently underway.
Piyadasa speaking at a media briefing in Kandy yesterday said the SLFP will face all elections in confidence despite the circumstances.
He said Grama Niladhari divisions have been advised to establish a supporter base for the election, by the conclusion of the first two weeks in January.
He said Seat Organisers will call a meeting next week, where further measures will be discussed.
Prof. Piyadasa said the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Alliance has been formed adding that the alliance will contest under a common symbol of the chair as agreed before.
Prof. Piyadasa also noted that the progress of disciplinary inquiries into several members of the SLFP will be revealed in the near future.
