Ten office trains deployed despite strike

(UTV|COLOMBO) – State Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Ashok Abeysinghe says steps have been taken to deploy 10 office trains this morning, despite the ongoing strike action.

He noted instructions have also been issued to operate special bus services around all railway stations in Sri Lanka.

The State Minister further noted over 20 retired station masters had returned to service on the basis of daily wages.

Meanwhile eight trains have left to Colombo Fort from the Maho Junction, Kurunegala, Chilaw, Galle, Kandy, Rambukkana and Avissawella this morning.

Several railway trade unions launched an indefinite strike on the 26th of September based on salary anomalies
