Verdict on Hemasiri, IGP bail case set for 9th October

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Colombo High Court will deliver the verdict on the revision application against granting bail to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando on the 9th of October.

Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested for failing to prevent the terror attacks on Easter Sunday but were granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

The Attorney General had later filed a revision application requesting the Colombo High Court to issue an interim order against the granting of bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to Fernando and Jayasundara.

Lawyers appearing for Fernando and Jayasundara filed objections in court last month but the objections were rejected by the court.
