Sri Lanka – Bangladesh discusses matters pertaining to Naval operations [VIDEO]

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka and Bangladesh held discussions on matters pertaining to its Naval activities yesterday (07).

Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the Bangladesh Navy Ship “Somudra Avijan” which arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit yesterday.

The Commanding Officer of the visiting Bangladesh Ship, Commander Zahirul Haque called on the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.

The Ship’s crew will take part in few events including friendly sports activities, cultural programmes, and visits to the interesting places of the island organised by the Sri Lanka Navy during their 4-day stay in Sri Lanka.

Further, training rehearsal of landing a Bangladesh Navy helicopter on-board a Sri Lanka Navy Ship (Passage Exercise) has also been scheduled to be carried out.

115.2 Metres long and 13.1 meters wide Bangladesh Navy Ship “Somudra Avijan” has a displacement capacity of 3367.58 tons. With the completion of the 4-day visit, the ship is scheduled to set off the island on 10 September.
