James Wan to direct new original horror film

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Horror movie master James Wan (“Saw,” “Insidious,” “The Conjuring”) is returning to his genre roots for his next project at New Line Cinema.

Wan and Ingrid Bisu, who starred in “The Nun” and who recently got engaged to Wan, are co-writing the project which is said to be an original film – though the plot is being kept under wraps.

Wan will also produce the film through his Atomic Monster banner alongside Michael Clear. The plan is to shoot the film this Fall in Los Angeles before jumping over into pre-production on the “Aquaman” sequel.

Wan’s last horror directorial effort was “The Conjuring 2” in 2016, though he has produced numerous horror works including multiple titles this year such as “The Curse of La Llorona,” “Annabelle Comes Home” and the “Swamp Thing” TV series. He remains attached as producer on “The Tommyknockers” and the soon to film “Mortal Kombat”.
