Cabinet papers to review Madrasas & MMDA

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has agreed to present two Cabinet Papers to bring Madrasa schools or Muslim Religious schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education, and to amend the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act, before the Cabinet of Ministers.

Parliamentarian AHM Fowzie said Premier Wickremesinghe had agreed to present the two Cabinet papers, during a discussion held with a group of Muslim MPs, yesterday, sources reports.

The Parliamentarian further expressed hope that the Cabinet Papers will be discussed by the Cabinet promptly and passed as Acts of the Parliament.

MP Fowzie has stated that a decision on accepting Ministerial portfolios once again will be reached only following another round of discussion scheduled to be held with the Premier next week.
