“Spider-Man” to get an early Chinese launch

(UTV|COLOMBO) – China has set a June 28th release date for Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” the opening coming five days ahead of the film’s North American bow.

China was easily the top international market for 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” taking in $116 million in that country alone despite launching there two months after nearly every other territory.

The earlier release is in part due to timing – the film opening one week before China begins its unofficial summer blackout on imported movies. To celebrate the news, a new Chinese trailer for the film is out and it contains a bunch of new footage.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” opens in U.S. cinemas on July 2nd.
