Navy discovers arms cache under Gengea Bridge in Muthur

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Navy Divers, during an underwater search carried out under the Gengea Bridge in Muthur, discovered several weapons.

This special diving operation was carried out on Monday (20) following a 12 bore shot gun and a hand grenade were found, entangled in fishing nets, under the Gengea Bridge on 18 and 19 May.

Accordingly, a team of Navy Divers was engaged in the said task on 19 and 20 May and they managed to find 3 shot guns, 2 barrels of shot gun, 1 T-56 assault rifle including 5 magazines, 5 hand grenades, and 203 ammunition (7.62×39 millimetre), during the operation. The cache of arms was handed over to Muthur Police for onward investigation.
