Easter Blasts in Sri Lanka: CID arrests 44 suspects

(UTV|COLOMBO) – According to the Police Media Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruwan Gunasekara, around 44 suspects have been arrested by the the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for possible links to the multiple attacks carried out on Easter Sunday (21).

Further, 15 suspects arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID).

Over 250 people were killed and hundreds more injured in a series of explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, one of the most sacred days of the year for Christians.

A series of explosions in the island country during Easter celebrations on Sunday targeted Churches, hotels and also an area close to the capital’s Zoological Garden and near Dematagoda, Colombo’s suburb.

Most of the terror attacks were committed in the capital city of Colombo.
