Police says 9 suicide bombers, including 1 woman took part in Easter Sunday bombings

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Nine suicide bombers took part in the Easter Sunday (21) bombings, Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) confirmed today (24).

Out of the 9 suspects, 8 suspects have been identified by the CID, the Police Media Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruwan Gunasekara stated.

The 9th bomber was confirmed as the wife of one of the suicide bombers.

At least 359 people were killed and hundreds more injured in a series of explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday (21), one of the most sacred days of the year for Christians.

A series of eight explosions in the island country during Easter celebrations on Sunday targeted Churches, hotels and also an area close to the capital’s Zoological Garden and near Dematagoda, Colombo’s suburb.

Most of the terror attacks were committed in the capital city of Colombo.
