Heavy rain, lightning, winds to lash Sri Lanka; Public urged to be vigilant

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology on Wednesday (17) requested public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity and localised strong winds as showers or thundershowers with severe lightning will occur over most provinces of the island after 2.00 PM.

Heavy falls about 100 millimetres can also be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, Western, while fairly heavy falls above 50 millimetres can be expected at some places in North-Central, North-Western, and Eastern Provinces.
