Nine persons held by Navy for illegal fishing

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Nine persons who engaged in illegal fishing at Kadakarauchena area in Trincomalee, were apprehended by Navy on Monday (15).

Accordingly, a group of Naval Personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, had apprehended 9 persons who engaged in illegal fishing activities using banned nets, during a patrol carried out in Kadakarauchena area.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Kinniya, aged from 19 to 44. A dinghy, an OBM and 305 metres long banned net were also taken into Naval custody and those items along with the suspects were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector in Muthoor for further investigation.
