New domestic sanitary facilities for low income families in Jaffna

(UTV|COLOMBO) – As a part of its committed service in assisting the local communities in the North and East to uplift their living standards, the Sri Lanka Army has initiated and carried out a number of social welfare programmes. Providing proper domestic sanitary facilities for low income families is one such social welfare project.

Recently, troops in Jaffna handed over 10 such domestic sanitary facilities constructed by them to ten deserving families in Jaffna.

The handing over ceremony was held at the Thiruwalluwar Community Centre under the patronage of Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi.

During the occasion, the beneficiary families were also provided with packets of sanitaryware and cleansing powder.

Troops in the Jaffna Peninsula have built more than 50 such domestic sanitary facilities for deserving families in the region in the past one year alone.
