(UTV|COLOMBO) – Discussions will continue with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health seeking potential market in Afghanistan for the products of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) of Sri Lanka, in keeping with the Economic Diplomacy Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kabul stated on Tuesday (26).
A consignment of pharmaceuticals, sent as a gesture of goodwill of President Maithripala Sirisena to the People of Afghanistan, was handed over to the Deputy Minister for Health Service Care Provision of the Afghan Public Health Ministry Dr. Fedah Mohammad Paikan by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Kabul, Air Chief Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala.
The handing over of the consignment, which contained pharmaceuticals from the SPC took place at the Embassy on Monday (25).
During the interaction with Deputy Minister Dr. Fedah Mohammad Paikan, Ambassador Bulathsinghala apprised him of the possibility of importing high quality pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan from Sri Lanka, as a Government to Government venture. While inspecting the consignment, the Deputy Minister who himself is a Professional Medical Officer, highly appreciated the high quality of Sri Lankan pharmaceuticals and their packaging.
