Investigations into Luc Besson dropped

(UTV|COLOMBO) – French prosecutors have dropped the investigation into claims that “Valerian” and “Nikita” filmmaker Luc Besson raped his former girlfriend – Dutch actress Sand Van Roy – during an on-off relationship.

Van Roy is one of nine women who have alleged they were assaulted or harassed by the director and producer, but lawyers say that prosecutors have closed their inquiry into the alleged rapes.

Besson has always denied the claims and his lawyers say in a statement: “[He] is sad that some people – a minority happily – were too quick to condemn him… [He] thanks all those others whose constant support has helped him get through these difficult months.”

Besson’s representatives say he categorically denies any type of inappropriate or reprehensible behaviour and he’s previously denounced the claims as “fantasist accusations”.
