That Kitty Pryde “X-Men” Film is still alive

Celebrated comic writer Brian Michael Bendis used Twitter this week to reveal that the X-Men spin-off movie codenamed “143” is still in the works.

Set in that universe, the story is said to focus on the character Kitty Pryde who can phase through objects. Ellen Page previously played her in both “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past”.

Announced a year ago, at the time Bendis was going to write a script while “Deadpool” helmer Tim Miller was slated to direct. In the twelve months since it seems not much progress has been made, but Bendis is adamant the film is still alive:

“Yeah, I’m working on it right now. It’s very surreal and delightful to be so deep inside the X mansion and the fortress of solitude at the same time.”

With the X-Men likely to become part of the larger MCU as the Disney acquisition of 20th Century Fox is set to be completed in the next few weeks, the fate of all the “X-Men” films still in the development phase like “Gambit” and “X-Force” means the project’s fate remains unclear.
