President made a cash donation to student, who is ranked first in Polonnaruwa district at G.C.E. (A/L) Examination

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena has made a cash donation of one million rupees to the student Akila Ishani Wijerathne of Medirigiriya National College, who is ranked first in the Polonnaruwa district in the Arts Stream at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination, at the Presidential Secretariat, Monday (14), for the benefit of her future education activities.

The Principal of the Medirigiriya National College, Mr. H.R Wijerathne, the father of the student and Mrs. Kumuduni Pushpalatha, the mother of the student participated on this occasion.

Meanwhile, the President also made a cash donation of rupees 7 lakh to the student Hashini Wasana Sewwandi, a Grade 9 student of the Royal College, Polonnaruwa, for the benefit of her future education and arts activities, at the Presidential Secretariat, onMonday (14).

This donation was made according to a request made the student to the President, to provide assistance to hold an Art exhibition in the school, after one of her painting was selected as an Excellent Creation in North Central Province in 2017.

Previously, President Sirisena handed over a new house value Rs. 4.5 million to her family fulfilling a request made by the student.

The father and mother of the student were also present on this occasion.
