President instructs Mangala to submit Budget Appropriation Bill on Monday

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday (02) instructed the Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera to submit the Budget Appropriation Bill outlining financial allocations to respective Ministry to Parliament on Monday (07).

This was conveyed during the first meeting of the newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers, held yesterday at the President’s Official Residence under the patronage of President Sirisena.

Even though the new Cabinet of Ministers met for the first time on the day of their swearing-in ceremony, the meeting was limited to only twenty-minutes, as the purview of respective Ministries had not been finalised at the time.

Thereby, the meeting convened yesterday discerned as the first Cabinet meeting, following the issuance of the Gazette Notification on duties and functions of the respective Ministries.
