Sea vessel identified in Mullaitivu

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The vessel that was floating in the sea in Mullaitivu has now been identified as a fishing vessel owned by India.

The vessel was floating on the coast of Mullaitivu on the 30th of last month. It was dug on the coast yesterday.

Initial investigations of the vessel revealed that it was a registered fishing vessel in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Mullaitivu Police stated that a mobile phone, some equipment used for fishing and several gallows were found on the vessel.

Police suspect that an accident had occurred when the boat had come for fishing.

Mullaitivu Police stated that no information has been received so far regarding the fishermen in the area.
