Bus and three wheeler fares reduced from midnight today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The private bus fares will be reduced by 4% from midnight today due to the downward movement of fuel prices.

However, Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) Gemunu Wijeratne said that the minimum bus fares will not be changed and the relevant rates will be corrected in the future.

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has already issued a revised charge sheet.

The bus fare stages which are at Rs.15, Rs.20, Rs.24, Rs.29, Rs.38 and Rs.43 would drop by Rs.1. Rs.34, Rs.41, Rs.46, Rs.49 and Rs.52 would drop by Rs.2. The highest fare Rs.965 would drop down by Rs.41 and it would be Rs.924

Meanwhile, the three wheeler trade unions have decided to reduce the first kilometer of the three wheeler charges from Rs. 60 to Rs. 50 from midnight today.
