“Sri Lanka’s fate being decided by old men behind closed doors” – UN Youth Envoy

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth Jayathma Wickramanayake tweeted saying Asia’s oldest democracy is being tested.

“Constitution and Democratic Institutions are challenged. Few old men behind closed doors are deciding the country’s fate,” Wickramanayake tweeted after Parliament was dissolved on Friday (09).

She urged politicians in Sri Lanka to respect participatory democracy and be inclusive and transparent in resolving the crisis.
